Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Oh my beloved slow cooker….

My family is grateful for the many delicious and fuss free meals you have provided us. Your tender touch and nurturing care is especially true when it comes to pork. I have made many tasty meals from my trusty crock pot but hands down nothing compares to pulled pork. This batch is enough for sandwiches and you can use the leftovers as a main dish with potatoes and veggies.

Pulled Pork Sandwiches


1 large onion, sliced thin

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 (4-6 lb) boneless pork butt or shoulder

1 1/2 cups water or 1/2 cup of water plus 1 bottle/can of dark beer

1 bottle (16 ounces) barbecue sauce, or 2 cups homemade sauce

½ teaspoon garlic salt

Potato rolls


Rinse pork roast under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Place onions on the bottom of your slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, bbq sauce, salt and pepper; mix thoroughly. Rub mixture all over roast and place the roast on top of the onions. Pour in water and beer, cover then cook on low for 8-10 hours. Remove meat and onions; drain. Chop or shred and serve in potato rolls
